Here are some photos of the GP 40-2 when they were arriving in Cumberland in 1975/76. What I remember is when engine #1977 arrived there were TWO with that NUMBER. After inquiring, found out there was no engine numbered 4100 even from EMD La Grange Ill. when produced. Chessie in Cumberland painted the new numbers and installed new # plates to make the one 4100. As you see there are photo's of 4101 & 4104 together with silver trucks which I just discovered when scanning them. I don't know why this is, I remember that series as having mostly blue trucks.

4 unit consist being built, GP 40's and GP 30 at Cumberland in the mid 70's. Standing order at the time was not to run GM 50 on head end.
